What are extensions and what do they do?

It's best to think about Google Extensions as add-on applications for the Google Chrome Browser. Staff users can install and remove extensions they would like to use to aid in their instruction or Chrome usage. Installed extensions can have many effects, such as changing how Chrome loads pages, adds or removed functions from Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc), blocks ads, adds games, and more.

How do I add extensions?

The best and easiest way is to go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/ . Search for the extension you would like.

When you click on the extension you would like, it will look like this:

To add the extension, click the blue "Add to Chrome" button and it will be added to chrome and begin performing whatever function it advertises.

How do I remove an extension?

Some extensions outlive their usefulness. Others come packaged with unintended or unwanted functions. Users might find it necessary to remove unwanted extensions. Doing so is very easy.

Simply type "chrome://extensions" in your browser URL field as pictured:

As you can see, all extensions added by the user have a 'Remove" button. Clicking that will uninstall the extension. Some extensions cannot be removed as they are applied by district policy.

Choose extensions carefully, as some might come with malicious or unwanted functions. Whenever Chrome is behaving unexpectedly or badly, a good habit is to go and uninstall any unrecognized or unwanted extensions!
